First Scotland East 129 now serves Ocean Terminal
First Scotland East extended the 129 service from Musselburgh to Ocean Terminal from last Monday (30th May) - see here:http://www.eastlothiancourier.com/news/ ... ode=print#
The route has also been completely revised between Seton Sands and Musselburgh, with buses now running via the 'top Pans' instead of Levenhall. From Musselburgh the route runs to Portobello as before, then via Craigentinny, Lochend, Foot of the Walk and Junction Street to Ocean Terminal. Extra buses are provided on Thursday to Saturday evenings to cater for late-night shoppers and cinema-goers.
Early indications are that it is already proving successful, with good loadings being reported and the drivers making potential passengers aware of the new service - certainly the trip I was on on Thursday proved this to be the case. First have also taken the trouble to provide information at the bus stops along the route as well as at Ocean Terminal itself, although as yet Lothian have not updated the bus stop signs!
Overall impression, a good move by First and a very innovate one too, it certainly deserves to succeed. It also provides some welcome competition on the streets of Edinburgh.
